Great Advice for New (or Wannabe) Authors

Here’s some advice too good not to share. M.T. McGuire Authorholic‘s blog “What I know now, that I wish I new then…” is one to share with my workshop attendees and others.

Among her best advice is #1 and the bits about the advantages of creating a flexible plot outline. The advice for the Young Adult (YA) category that McGuire provides is good for all: know your audience, both readers and buyers. I do, however, disagree with her views on grammar and punctuation (refer to 7-steps-to-take-before-submitting-your-writing-to-an-editor).

Most importantly, remember to “Enjoy the process of learning and enjoy writing.”
